COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP

Archana's Community Action Group's are small homogeneous groups of women to work as a social entrepreneur group to realise the objects of human and women's basic rights for sustainable livelihood, social equality, economic self-reliance, right to hygienic housing , sanitation, health etc. Each group comprises of 10-20 likeminded women, who have been adequately educated and motivated about the wide ramifications and dynamics of working together, earing together and pulling together in a patriarchy dominated community to create a non-discriminatory and inclusive social milieu.

At the social and macro level, the Archana inspired women have successfully demonstrated the sustainability and longevity of a women at the core approach for tacking the evils of poverty, disease and discord among women. This has been made possible by the large network of Archana mentored Community Action Groups- Groups of women who have decidedly joined to give concrete shape to their dreams . 

All participants of the CAG production network have been able to enhance their earning capacities and are able to generate a monthly net of Rs.8000-10000 which is just an empirical example of the positive economic dimension of the CAG programme and it's far reaching benefits as a tool of empowerment. AWC resource CAGs the basic seed capital to fuel the entrepreneurial activities and recall with gratitude the stellar role played by Union Bank of India, in making this partnership possible by making financial resources available. 

The CAG programmes are coordinated and managed by highly motivated and experienced team. We are able to get training, and institutional resource support from National Agencies such as NABARD National bank, and other various departments of the Government for imparting skill training to the participants in undertaking livelihood development programmes.

These groups of women, now linking together 217 groups with 2200 members and spread out to Ayarkunnam, Vechoor, Uzhavoor, Piravom, Thalayolaparambu, Manjoor, Kuravilangadu, Marangattupilly, Kumaranalloor, Kadaplamattom, Ettumanoor, Kaduthuruthy, Erattupetta, Kallara, Kanakkari and Athirampuzha Panchayats, in Kottayam districts, have been engaged in group enterprising activities, production and sale of consumer goods, as an income generation and economic empowerment program. These informal collectives of women form the pivot to generate a dependable base of livelihood, and a platform for acquiring new skills, and insight into the expanding matrix of gender Empowerment. In order to be feasible and sustainable, the CAG members are given adequate training and orientation with the help of experts in management of micro unit s. AWC provides them a total mentoring package, consisting of training, tech support, financial support, and marketing. Our team of Animators work with the groups closely, undertake participatory evaluation, identify bottlenecks, and help the groups to carry out necessary re-alignment when warranted.
